Hope At Every Turn

If you prefer listening over reading, please click below for the recorded version of this post:

Is it the thing with feathers that sings to you in the night?

Or that anchor that keeps your soul steady through storm and gale?

Perhaps it’s the soft, yellow rays of light that reach gently out to you through the window?

Or the tender wind that brushes back your hair and breathes life into your ailing spirit?

Maybe even that “coincidental” word spoken forth from some random television show?

Or perhaps a voice of love that whispers life into your ear when you’re in the dust—longing for death’s feigned relief?

Indeed, it is He—the One who wipes away each of your tears as they roll down your face.

He who looks into your eyes with welling eyes of His own and presses His forehead tenderly against yours.

A wordless presence and a heart that knows.

Are not all of these the embodiment of Hope?

For He knows your suffering and aches along with you,

Seeks to comfort you at every corner,

To soothe you at every turn.

He waits patiently,

Covering you with His love,

Until you rise up again.

  1. Wow! These descriptive words are comforting to me and I think they will be comforting to many others!! It really captures the depth of what I feel when I am hurting as well as the longing of my soul to be comforted by one who understands. When we are hurting, it’s not the cliche’ remarks or common platitudes from others that lift us up. No, true comfort comes from the one who expresses empathy not so much through their words as through their presence, their tears or a gentle touch. These speak volumes to us who are hurting!! Oh, that more of us would be willing sufferers and ache along with those of us who hurt!! Has anyone else felt this way? I think this blogger understands 🙂

    • Anon Angel, thank you for your profound words! May we all feel the merciful and compassionate heart of God!
